Child Stimulation Month 2018 kicked off countrywide under the theme "Birth to Eight - Children must Play". Pre-Schools on the island celebrated the opening of Child Stimulation Month with a parade throught the main streets of San Pedro. Children were in colorful costumes displaying, social workers, National Symbols of Belize, Colors, Shapes, Numbers, the Weather, Farm Animals, Domestic Animals and so much more. On Sunday, February 11, 2018, the San Pedro Roman Catholic Church held a very special mass for the community as "Family Day" was celebrated. After the 10am Mass families were invited to participate in a fun filled day as there were games, performances and lots to eat and drink. Father Scott delivered special blessings to families in attendance and blessing were given to families that posted their pictures on a special wall created for family day. Special thanks goes out to everyone who gave a donation in order for this special day to take place.
On Saturday, February 10, 2018, the Ayuso and Montano families along with friends celebrated the marriage of Luis and Sandra Ayuso at the San Pedro RC Church followed by a lovely reception at the Lions Den. Godparents of the bride and groom were Mr. and Mrs. Alex Eiley. It was a night full of love and happiness. Congratulations to the lovely couple on this Valentine's Day!
On Thursday, February 8, 2018, The San Pedro House of Culture opened its photo exhibit of the 'Grand Carnaval de San Pedro'. Those in attendance enjoyed the great music of of Mr. Wil Nunez and his 7-year-old grandson Alexus Nunez. The photo exhibit has pictures of old comparsas (dancing groups) and up to present day comparsas. The public is invited to visit the photo exhibit at the San Pedro House of Cultutre and enjoy viewing the beautiful pictures and information on the Grand Carnaval of San Pedro.
A talking magical juke box takes the students of The Island Academy on musical history of Christmas Music. With song, dance and music the students of The Island Academy once again put on a spectabular Christmas Pageant that this year was open to the public. It had been under construction for some time now and everyone passing by kept wondering what was behind those giant walls. This past weekend Ambergris Today and invited guests were invited to a special pre-opening preview of what is behind those walls. It’s an oasis along the busy streets of Coconut Drive - Diamond Lodge is the island’s first Boutique Lifestyle Bed & Breakfast located on island of Ambergris Caye in Belize.
Rounding up the fun-filled evening that was Love FM's Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 10, 2017, was Foreva Fancy's annual Christmas Fahion Show that took place at Central Park immediately following the parade. Central Park was flooded with spectators who gathered around the giant Christmas Tree as Foreva Fancy models showcased the latest clothing at the boutique. Additional entertainment was provided with musical numbers by the San Pedro Dance Academy and songs by Elina Palma.
In commemoration of San Pedro's 33rd Township Anniversary the San Pedro Town Council held a poster competition where schools in the island were invited to participate. On Tuesday, December 5, 2017, Mayor Daniel Guerrero presented the top three winners of the poster competition and they are as follows: 1st Place - Isla Bonita Elementary School - Ashley Wallace, Geneive Ramirez and Jay Arcul (In the headline picture) 2nd Place - The Island Academy - Lauren Turley 3rd Place - The Island Academy - Madison Edwards and Gabriella Knox
‘Tis the Season to be Jolly! The San Pedro Town Council held its official lighting ceremony of the Town’s Christmas Tree on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Central Park. It was fun-filled event which island residents and tourists enjoyed as they joyfully counted down together for the lighting of the Christmas Tree.
The San Pedro House of Culture celebrated with the Garinagu of San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, Belize, with entertainment and lots of free food and Garifuna treats for those in attendance. The evening was part of Garifuna Awareness Day to showcase the music and food of the Garinagu of Belize. This was in preparatipon of the upcoming Garifuna Settlement Day celebrations on November 19, a national holiday in Belize. Drumming and dancing were the highlights of the evening, provided by the Chirikanari Drummers/Dancers. A very awesome cultural experience.
Foreva Fancy Boutique helped kick off the Garifuna Settlement Day celebrations that are coming up on November 19, 2017 with a fashion show held over the weekend. The fashion show was inspired by the Garifuna Culture and it's people with models showcasing traditional Garifuna clothing made available by the San Pedro Garifuna Council and assistance by the San Pedro House of Culture. The island boutique also put together an ensable of clothing inspired by the colors and style of the Garifuna culture - a modern twist to traditional/cultural style.
It was a packed house at Palapa Bar and Grill this past Sunday, October 29, as the Saga Humane Society of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize, held its annual 14th Annual Spooktacular Halloween Party and Costume Contest. It was a family fun-filled event where man's best friend was the main attraction. Island residents got their canine friends in costumes and celebrated along with Saga to help raise funds for the organization. A panel of judges assisted in awarding prizes for Most Original Costume, Scariest, Funniest, Best Look-alike and Best Trick.
In the wake of the court cases, dramatic news headlines, death and hope for justice, David Cannon, father of young Faye Lin Cannon, organized a memorial service for his deceased young girl, held at the San Pedro Lions Den on Saturday, October 14, 2017. The venue saw residents in and out the Lions Den throughout the afternoon as they came to pray for Faye Lin, meet her father David Cannon and extend their support and assistance throughout his ongoing battle for the custody of his three adoptive daughter, sisters of Faye Lin - Mia, Siri and Zoe.

WOW! Former Principal of San Pedro High School, Mr. Angel Nuñez, says he fondly remembers his early years at San Pedro High School like if it were yesterday. This weekend he joined part of the alumni of the second gradating class of SPHS. Celebrating 40 years as San Pedro High Graduates included Celi Jean, Ema Varela, Rosela Guerrero, Cris Nuñez, Gach Guerrero and Luis Nuñez. (Missing from the pic are - Andy, Bob, Gil, Lupe and Mario - Mario passed away on June 13, 2017.) Congratulations to the San Pedro High Class of '77
The Miss Costa Maya delegates were officially presented with their sash on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Fido's Courtyard and Pier. They enjoyed a fabulous dinner and got to mingle and interact with locals and visitors of the island. Enjoying the live music of the band while taking pictures and dancing was how the night ended.
The fun has commenced as Ambergris Caye Camp Starfish is back for another exciting annual summer program. Activities started since Monday, July 17, 2017 at the San Pedro Lions Den. This program was created for children with disabilities to interact with one another, learn the alphabet, to read, play games and have fun.

The San Pedro House of Culture, San Pedro Roman Catholic Church and residents of San Pedro gathered in front of the St.Peter’s statue outside of the Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, to celebrate “Dia De San Pedro” / St.Peter’s Day! The audience was delighted throughout the night with presentations by the cultural group from Palmar, Orange Walk, The San Pedro Dance Academy, The Trio (including one of San Pedro’s very own) and The Mariachi.
